Test Drives: 1999 BMW M3 Coupe
|
|
I was lucky enough to drive this M3 Coupe from Birchwood BMW on a Winnipeg summer night. The roads were wet and slippery and I could not have been in a more appropriate car. With the ASC turned off, the rear end was spinning right through third gear. The car had amazing balance, thanks to its suspension. Steering feel was perfect for its type of car. The interior was basically a 3-Series coupe with M-badged sport seats, steering wheel, and an excellent stereo with subwoofer control. The windows open slightly as soon as the door is opened and close once the door closes to ensure a tight fit. The only aspect difficult to accept with the M3 is that its successor now has a 333bhp engine, making the 240bhp engine in this M3 seem very, very tame. The 3.2L engine in this M3 was very quick so I can only imagine what the new engine is like!
