Test Drives: 2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan

I was very eager to try out Infiniti's latest attempt to brand itself as a sports car company. The G35 is a rear-wheel-drive 6-cylinder backed with 260bhp and plenty of torque. The design is bold and daring, with an extended wheelbase incorporated into quite small dimensions. The interior design continues with a bold combination of squared angles and edges and a cylindrical dash. The seat control buttons are located close to the center console, not where you would expect them to be. The HVAC and radio buttons take a little getting used to, especially with the display screen located at the top of the dash. This G35 was equipped with a pop-up navigation system that will soon operate with a DVD for major Canadian cities. The car drives much like an IS 300, with plenty of power to the rear wheels, and a relatively light feel. With the stability control system disabled, you can have endless amounts of fun, despite the slip control engaging. Expect an AWD version soon with close to 300bhp, and an optional 6-speed manual in the near future. A coupe version will also be available in the future. Infiniti is going to sell a lot of these!
