Test Drives: 1997 Infiniti QX4

This truck is a typical luxury SUV made to satisfy the increasing demand for upscale suburban utility vehicles. The truck was extremely successful upon its introduction in 1997, largely because of the little competition at the time. As a result, there is now an abundance of 1997-8 QX4s available on the secondary market. For what it does, the QX4 is a very nice vehicle. It drives well on the road and for those who enjoy the height advantage, the QX4 does not dissappoint. The interior is comfortable and well laid out. The faux wood trim is a little low-class though. Lastly, the engine is extremely loud and not very capable. I believe the engine was derived from the Maxima and modified for a truck platform for towing purposes. The new QX4 has improved its engine spec numbers substantially over its predecessor.
